Hábitos y preferencias por recreación y deporte en Medellín: Una aplicación de modelos logísticos

Abstract

Resumen: Este artículo hace una revisión teórica sobre los factores que inciden en la práctica del deporte y la recreación. También ofrece información que permite entender por qué los medellinenses practican deporte o no, cuál actividad física prefieren y con qué frecuencia e intensidad, cómo afrontan las restricciones para poder practicarlo y quién influye en la decisión de participación. Se utiliza una encuesta a 1.234 personas mayores de 15 anos y se construyen dos modelos logit binariospara medir los determinantes de la frecuencia e intensidad de la práctica deportiva. Se concluye que en Medellín hay una alta demanda de prácticas deportivas y recreativas, con mayor intensidad en las mujeres, pero limitada por el alto costo de oportunidad de quienes trabajan y están casados o en unión libre.
