Diversificación productivo y empresarial informal: América Latina en 2000 y 2010

Abstract

Varios estudios han encontrado una relación positiva entre el proceso de creación de empresas y el crecimiento y desarrollo económico de las naciones. No obstante, tal relación deja de ser clara para el caso de las economías con una fuerte presencia del sector informal. Esto debido, a la concentración de las empresas informales en sectores de baja productividad y a una dinámica de producción de base estrecha poco diversificada. De acuerdo a lo anterior, en el presente artículo se analiza si existió o no relación entre la tasa de empresarialidad informal y el nivel de diversificación productiva en doce países de Latinoamérica, así como los cambios presentados entre el ano 2000 y el 2010. Se encontró que a pesar que las correlaciones encontradas no son fuertes, no se puede descartar una relación inversa entre empresarialidad informal y diversificación productiva para la mayoría de los países analizados.
