Ciclos políticos y agregados macroeconómicos: Un análisis para el caso colombiano (1970-2005)

Abstract

Resumen: la teoría de los ciclos políticos ha evolucionado considerablemente en las últimas décadas, al tiempo que los trabajos aplicados intentan predecir con mayor exactitud el efecto de las decisiones tomadas por los policymakers sobre los agregados económicos. Este trabajo intenta evaluar en forma empírica, para el caso colombiano en el período comprendido entre 1970-2005, algunos de los postulados propuestos por la teoría. Los resultados obtenidos permiten verificar la existencia de ciclos políticoeconómicos oportunistas para el producto, el desempleo y el déficit fiscal, y partidistas en cuanto al manejo que han realizado los partidos políticos tradicionales frente a la inflación y el desempleo.
