Schumpeter y la nueva síntesis neoclásica en macroeconomía

Abstract

Resumen: El objetivo de este artículo es presentar la teoría monetaria de Schumpeter en el marco del neowickselianismo propuesto por la nueva síntesis neoclásica. Se muestra que la contribución de Schumpeter tiene que ver con la definición tanto de un equilibrio estacionario como de un desequilibrio, a partir del cual los ciclos económicos surgen como resultado de choques tecnológicos de origen determinístico. Esta contribución contrasta con la nueva síntesis neoclásica donde el equilibrio semiestacionario depende de las anticipaciones racionales, mientras que los ciclos resultan de choques estocásticos provenientes tanto de un cambio tecnológico como de un cambio en las preferencias de los agentes. En ambas teorías, la ausencia de la cantidad de dinero en las condiciones que definen el equilibrio, reduce notablemente el alcance de la teoría monetaria subyacente en la teoría de la política monetaria.
