El desempeno macroeconómico colombiano en el cuatrienio Pastrana: recesión y recuperación frágil

Abstract

Resumen: Después de las relativamente altas tasas de crecimiento en la primera mitad de la década de 1990, la economía colombiana comenzó desde 1996 un fuerte proceso de desaceleración que culminó en una de las crisis más agudas del siglo XX. Una caída del producto de 4,2% en 1999; aumentos, quizás, sin precedentes en las tasas de desempleo; fuertes ataques cambiarios y alzas drásticas en las tasas de interés, configuraron un cuadro dramático que empezó a ser superado desde el 2000. Este artículo analiza el desempenomacroeconómico colombiano en el cuatrienio Pastrana (1998-2002), tratando de identificar los principales factores internos y externos que determinaron dicho desempeno, así como los probables efectos de las políticas económicas (cambiaria, fiscal y monetaria) adoptadas.Para este fin se utilizan como referentes teóricos dos modelos macroeconómicos de corto plazo, denominados ISLM-DD e IS-MP-IA.
