Estabilización del mercado cafetero y comentarios al manejo del sector en 1977

Abstract

La consistente inestabilidad que se presenta en el mercado internacional del café ha sido analizada desde la perspectiva de que dicha inestabilidad es una de las principales causales de los movimientos cíclicos que se presentan en la actividad económica nacional. En general, se ha hecho énfasis en que las continuas fluctuaciones de los precios del café se originan en el impredecible comportamiento del clima de Brasil, razón por la cual se acepta el hecho de que los acuerdos entre países productores, y los países consumidores son necesarios para garantizar una adecuada y estable posición de divisas para los países productores, como se explica en seguida.Infortunadamente, pocos estudios han hecho referencia al hecho de que los acuerdos internacionales son deseables no solo por lo expresado anteriormente, sino además porque proporcionan la única posibilidad de lograr un mercado internacional ordenado en el futuro. Concretamente, en el presente trabajo pretendemos hacer referencia a la necesidad de mantener los Acuerdos Internacionales, como único medio que en el futuro puede garantizar una racionalización en la producción mundial de café.
