El efecto Tanzi, la sustitución de monedas y la tasa de inflación óptima en Colombia

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo consiste en generalizar el modelo tradicional de financiamiento del déficit del gobierno a través de la creación de dinero por parte del Banco Central, incluyendo los posibles efectos que tendrían sobre la tasa de inflación óptima la sustitución de monedas y la presencia de rezagos en la recolección de los impuestos. De acuerdo con los resultados empíricos, en Colombia, no hay evidencia clara en cuanto a la sustitución de monedas. Sin embargo, a través de un modelo sencillo de regresión lineal, se comprobó que existe un rezago de aproximadamente seis meses en la recolección de los impuestos. Este último aspecto lleva a que el gobierno incurra en una pérdida de ingresos reales cuando la inflación sobrepasa cierto nivel, el cual es de 40% en nuestro ejercicio.
