Propuesta alternativa para las líneas de indigencia y de pobreza existentes en Colombia

Abstract

La pobreza, según el Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadística (DANE), descendió de manera significativa durante los últimos anos en Colombia. Esta apreciación causó controversia, pues las condiciones económicas de la sociedad no reflejan el anuncio al que se ha hecho referencia. Este documento formula, a partir de las diferencias establecidas entre las dos metodologías empleadas para medir la pobreza —antigua metodología (AM) y nueva metodología (NM)—, nuevas líneas de indigencia y de pobreza para el periodo 2002-2015, cuya evidencia primordial radica en que las cifras oficiales desconocieron aproximadamente siete millones de pobres para el 2015. According to DANE, poverty in Colombia has significantly declined over recent years. This is a controversial revelation as the economic conditions of society do not reflect the statement. Based on the differences established between the two methodologies used to measure poverty —the old methodology (AM) and the new methodology (NM)— this paper establishes new lines of indigence and poverty for the period 2002-2015; these demonstrate that the official numbers discounted approximately seven million poor in 2015.
