Desarrollo exportador y desarrollo capitalista colombiano en el siglo XIX (una hipótesis)

Abstract

Intenta reconstruir la lógica del desarrollo capitalista (mercantil) colombiano en el siglo XIX, y el papel jugado dentro de este proceso por las relaciones de Colombia con la cambiante economía mundial. Se delineara la dinámica del desarrollo económico colombiano en el siglo XIX como caracterizada por una contradicción fundamental; por una parte, el desarrollo exportador se manifestaba objetivamente, y era concebido por la burguesía colombiana como la única forma factible de expansión dada la herencia histórica y las condiciones de la economía mundial. Por otra parte, la articulación particular de Colombia dentro de la economía mundial (su condición de región secundaria dentro de la periferia) limitaba fuertemente las posibilidades de un desarrollo exportador exitoso, y ayudaba a reforzar una serie de condiciones internas que también ponían serias trabas al crecimiento de las exportaciones.
