Diferencias salariales entre los trabajadores del sector público y del sector privado en Colombia en 1997

Abstract

El presente artículo aplica el modelo de Roy para medir el tamano del diferencial salarial entre los trabajadores del sector público y del sector privado en Colombia en 1997. La utilización de este modelo es importante porque permite eliminar el sesgo de selección de los coeficientes de las ecuaciones de Mincer que surgen cuando se estiman ecuaciones para las dos sectores separadamente: El modelo también permite hacer predicciones apropiadas del salario contrafactual que un trabajador ganaría en el otro sector. El diferencial salarial se mide con la descomposición de Oaxaca, metodología estándar en este tipo de estudios, y con una medida adicional diferencial promedio estimado. El estudio concluye que salvo para los trabajadores con estudios de posgrado, en el sector privado los salarios son inferiores a los del sector público.
