Relaciones entre la experiencia exportadora y el desempeno productivo de la industria colombiana

Abstract

En los últimos anos se han escrito diversos trabajos que estudian el impacto de las exportaciones sobre la productividad de las empresas colombianas. Sin embargo, los diferentes estudios no han podido utilizar información posterior a 1994, por cambios metodológicos en las fuentes de información. Este trabajo ofrece una solución al problema antes mencionado, construyendo una base de datos sobre la experiencia exportadora de las empresas manufactureras para el período 1992-2002. Adicionalmente, realiza una exploración de la relación entre exportaciones y productividad, mediante estimaciones econométricas de tipo data panel. Los resultados indican la existencia de una especie de círculo virtuoso" en el comportamiento de las empresas exportadoras: las empresas que exportan, adquieren experiencia en los mercados externos y mejoran sus niveles de productividad, lo cual, a su vez, beneficia su competitividad en los mercados locales."
