Estimación del traspaso del tipo de cambio a los precios en México

Abstract

En este documento se cuantifica la magnitud del traspaso del tipo de cambio a los precios al consumidor en México. Adicionalmente, se analiza si la dinámica de dicho traspaso se ha modificado en los últimos años. Lo anterior se realiza mediante una metodología que genera resultados congruentes con la jerarquía implícita en el inpc. Los resultados sugieren que el coeficiente de traspaso del tipo de cambio sobre el nivel general de precios es bajo y estadísticamente no significativo; sin embargo, dicho traspaso es positivo y significativo para los precios de las mercancías. Por otra parte, se encuentra que la trayectoria del traspaso del tipo de cambio sobre los precios disminuyó durante los años dos mil y la depreciación observada en 2011 no modificó dicha trayectoria.
