English – A Threat In A Globalized World?

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present our view on the spread of English as a global language / lingua franca; the invasion of Anglicisms in all languages, hence the problem of translationg, or not translating professional terms; common mistakes made by non-native speakers. This paper will not develop on the positive and on the negative consequences of the global spread of English, but on the necessity of learning it, as according to statistics, English is the most used instrument of communication in the world.
