The It Leadership - Towards Corporate Diplomacy. A General Assessment

Abstract

The current research takes into consideration the IT industry from Iasi, Romania; the view over the software development branch is assessed from a double point of view: at first, the transformational leadership is considered, as actions, behaviors, attitudes, influence over the team and company members. The second assessment develops in regard with the organizational workforce innovation, when companies’ results are seen as a predictor of how individuals behave at work and drive the company towards innovative performance. The research uses two 5 Likert Scale instruments wildly known within the literature; the transformational leadership is being measured with the help of MLQ 5X, by assessing the transformational leadership with the help of five dimensions: idealized influence (behavior and attributes), inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualized consideration. The Workforce Innovation Scale (WIS) regards innovation on four dimensions: organizational, individual and team innovation, along with the specific climate for innovation. The current research shows partial results by using the responses of 175 questionnaires, where the transactional leaders are being characterized in the light of leading workforce within the companies they work with, towards innovation. The IT leader has a similar profile of a general corporate diplomat.
