La concentration des emplois, une source négligée de disparités territoriales et d’inégalités salariales

Abstract

La concentration des emplois – très forte dans l’industrie – est une facette peu étudiée du marché du travail : elle a pourtant des répercussions sur les rémunérations et les inégalités. Une concentration plus élevée, en raison du poids accru de gros employeurs sur le marché du travail, s’accompagne en effet de salaires plus bas, surtout pour les salariés les moins rémunérés. Les niveaux de concentration sont eux-mêmes très disparates entre territoires, reflétant en partie leur exposition à la concurrence internationale. Une politique visant à davantage d’équité territoriale devrait ainsi s’attacher à considérer la concentration des emplois comme une source importante de disparités géographiques.
