Localisation geographique, commerce international et diffusion des connaissances technologiques

Abstract

Ce travail propose d'etudier l'impact de la localisation geographique sur les importations en tant que mecanisme de diffusion de connaissances technologiques et sur le rattrapage technologique des pays en developpement. L'utilisation d'un modele gravitationnel et d'un modele de diffusion technologique permettent de constater que le critere de proximite geographique explique significativement les importations des pays en developpement et determine dans une large mesure leur rattrapage technologique vis-a-vis des pays de la frontiere technologique (pays du G6). L'adaptation des modeles proposes par Coe et Helpman (1995) et Coe, Helpman & Hoffmaiester (1997) montre toutefois que la diffusion de connaissances technologiques demeure negligeable pour les pays dont les importations sont issues de partenaires commerciaux developpes et physiquement proches.
