Abstract

In recent years, we have observed how some companies have firmly stood by their commitment to sustainable development values. In this respect, there is an increasing interest in bringing about a change in the traditional method of company growth which has been favoured by those who, like Milton Friedman, believe that the main objective of a company is to make as great a profit as possible for its owners or shareholders, in contrast with those who defend a new management model that is based on the principles of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) In this work, we study the concept of CSR: its objectives, tools and promotion and encouragement policies, as well as the role of social economy companies in relation to this new concept within the business world. Finally, we will present the results of a study that provides information about consumer perception of CSR.
