Kanzlerpartei und Wirtschaftswachstum in Deutschland - Eine Analyse seit 1951

Abstract

Wirtschaftliche Kennzahlen wie das Wirtschaftswachstum sind wichtige Indikatoren zur Bewertung politischer Entscheidungsträger. In den USA hatten Präsidenten der demokratischen Partei höhere Wachstumsraten als die der republikanischen Partei. Dieser Artikel untersucht den Zusammenhang zwischen der Kanzlerpartei und dem Wirtschaftswachstum in Deutschland seit 1951 und zeigt, dass das Wachstum unter CDU-Kanzlern höher als unter SPD-Kanzlern ausfiel, was jedoch stark von den Nachkriegsjahren unter Konrad Adenauer (CDU) getrieben ist. Zudem war das Wachstum unter CDU-Kanzlern etwas positiver im Vergleich mit den übrigen G-7-Ländern und der deutsche Aktienleitindex entwickelte sich in den Jahren der CDU-Kanzler tendenziell besser. Ein Zusammenhang zwischen der parteipolitischen Zusammensetzung der Länderregierungen und dem Wirtschaftswachstum in Gesamtdeutschland zeigt sich hingegen nicht. Die Ergebnisse lassen offen, ob die Unterschiede im Wirtschaftswachstum unter CDU- und SPD-Kanzlern auf politische Maßnahmen oder äußere Faktoren zurückzuführen sind.
