Zeitbombe Rentenversicherung – doch durchgreifende Reformen sind nicht in Sicht

Abstract

Durch den demografischen Wandel – insbesondere den Eintritt der Babyboomer ins Rentenalter – drohen massive Finanzierungsprobleme in der deutschen Rentenversicherung, da immer weniger Erwerbstätige für immer mehr Rentnerinnen und Rentner aufkommen müssen. Reformen der Vergangenheit haben nur begrenzt gewirkt, und jüngste Maßnahmen verschärfen die Probleme oft noch. Der Beitrag empfiehlt eine regelgebundene Anpassung des gesetzlichen Renteneintrittsalters an die ferne Lebenserwartung, auch wenn das politisch gegenwärtig unpopulär ist. Zusätzlich sollte die Haltelinie für das Rentenniveau abgeschafft und zugleich der Nachhaltigkeitsfaktor erhöht werden. Ein umfangreicherer Eingriff wäre ein Wechsel zu einer reinen Inflationsanpassung der Renten.
