Energieintensive Industrie unter Druck

Abstract

Im Jahr 2023 erwirtschaftete die energieintensive Industrie in Deutschland 22 % des Gesamtumsatzes des Verarbeitenden Gewerbes und hat daher eine wichtige Bedeutung für die deutsche Wirtschaft. Die Auswirkungen des Kriegs in der Ukraine und der weltweiten geopolitischen Spannungen haben die Energiepreise sprunghaft in die Höhe getrieben und die Branche in eine Krise gestürzt. Die Unternehmen sahen sich mit steigenden Kosten, Materialmangel, einer sinkenden Nachfrage sowie daraus resultierenden Produktionsrückgängen konfrontiert. Neben konjunkturellen Faktoren, auch ausgelöst durch die allgemein schwache weltwirtschaftliche Lage, deuten weitere Indikatoren wie Beschäftigungsrückgang sowie eine schwach eingeschätzte Wettbewerbsfähigkeit auf zusätzliche strukturelle Probleme hin. Ob es zu einer Verlagerung der energieintensiven Industrie ins Ausland kommt, kann zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt noch nicht abgesehen werden.
