Blockchain – Hype oder Querschnittstechnologie?

Abstract

Blockchain- bzw. Distributed-Ledger-Technology (DLT) ist eine relativ junge Technologie, die in den vergangenen Jahren eine rasante Entwicklung durchlaufen hat. Ursprünglich als Grundlage für Kryptowährungen wie Bitcoin konzipiert, hat die Blockchain-Technologie vor allem im Finanzsektor eine schnelle Adaption erfahren. Gleichzeitig haben die hohe Volatilität, regulatorische Unsicherheiten und illegale Aktivitäten rund um Kryptowährungen zu großer Verunsicherung bezüglich der Technologie an sich geführt. Dabei ermöglicht die Blockchain-Technologie Kosten-, Zeit- und Prozessvorteile und könnte als Treiber für eine Vielzahl von volkswirtschaftlich relevanten Ökosystemen dienen. Anwendungen in Bereichen außerhalb des Finanzsektors sind in der öffentlichen Wahrnehmung allerdings weniger präsent. Dieser Artikel befasst sich mit der Nutzung der Blockchain-Technologie in Deutschland. Mittels einer empirischen Auswertung von Stellenanzeigen werden Wirtschaftssektoren und Anwendungsfelder ermittelt, in denen die Blockchain-Technologie zum Einsatz kommt. Ziel ist es, einen Einblick in die unterschiedlichen Anwendungen der Blockchain-Technologie in der Realwirtschaft zu ermöglichen.
