Individualismus – treibende kulturelle Kraft für Kompetenzen und Arbeitsmarkterfolg

Abstract

Anhand von OECD-Daten aus dem größten internationalen Kompetenztest für Erwachsene wurde die Rolle von Individualismus auf der individuellen Ebene untersucht. Es zeigt sich, dass individualistischere Personen höhere arbeitsmarktrelevante Kompetenzen haben. Außerdem erwerben sie höhere Bildungsabschlüsse und nehmen mit einer höheren Wahrscheinlichkeit an Weiterbildungsaktivitäten im Erwachsenenalter teil. Auf dem Arbeitsmarkt verdienen individualistischere Personen zudem höhere Löhne und sind seltener arbeitslos.
