Merkantilismus im Gewand des Freihandels? Evidenz aus einer Expertenbefragung

Abstract

Im ersten Quartal 2017 wurde beim ifo World Economic Survey die Sonderfrage nach den Wirkungen des Freihandels auf das Land, in dem der befragte Experte ansässig ist, gestellt. Knapp drei Viertel der befragten Experten bewerten den Freihandel als positiv; gerade einmal 15% halten ihn für negativ. Die positive Einschätzung wird dann wahrscheinlicher, wenn das Land des befragten Experten einen Handelsbilanzüberschuss hat, und weniger wahrscheinlich, wenn das Gegenteil der Fall ist.
