Streitpunkt öffentliche Ausgaben für die Landwirtschaft

Abstract

Die politischen Anstrengungen zur Festlegung des mittelfristigen Finanzrahmens der EU für die kommende Periode und zur Weiterentwicklung der EU-Agrarpolitik gaben Anlass für kritische Diskussionen. Der Beitrag präsentiert eine Reihe von Fakten, die den aktuellen Stand der politischen Prozesse wiedergeben. Ausgehend von den agrarwirtschaftlichen Gegebenheiten des ersten Nachkriegsjahrzehnts und den Anfängen des europäischen Einigungsprozesses werden die Entwicklung der europäischen Agrarpolitik beleuchtet, die Notwendigkeit von Subventionen für Europas Landwirte diskutiert und die Belastung von Verbrauchern und Steuerzahlern durch die Agrarpolitik dargestellt. Das Fazit ist: Trotz aller Schwerfälligkeit ist die EU-Agrarpolitik ein Erfolg.
