Kurz zum Klima: Kein Ende in Sicht

Abstract

Millionen von Litern Erdöl strömen täglich aus dem Bohrloch der verunglückten Bohrinsel Deepwater Horizon in den Golf von Mexiko – und ein Ende ist nicht in Sicht. Die aktuelle Ölkatastrophe hat eine breite Diskussion über Risiko und Nutzen von Offshore-Bohrungen zur Gewinnung von Erdöl ausgelöst. Als besonders risikoreich gelten hierbei Tiefwasser- und Tiefstwasserbohrungen. Trotz der offensichtlichen Risiken und vielfach geäußerter Bedenken planen Unternehmen in vielen Regionen vermehrt die Exploration neuer Offshore-Ölfelder. Vor dem Hintergrund dieser Diskussion bietet der Beitrag einen Überblick über aktuelle Offshore-Bohrungen in ihrem geographischen, wirtschaftlichen und politischen Kontext.
