Abstract

Ein grundlegendes Prinzip von Marktwirtschaften ist die Regulierung von Angebot und Nachfrage durch den Preismechanismus. Dies gilt in analoger Weise auch auf für den Arbeitsmarkt. Wie viele Arbeitskräfte ein Unternehmen nachfragt, hängt entscheidend von der Lohnhöhe ab. Dieser fundamentale Marktmechanismus liegt den Schätzungen zugrunde, die das ifo Institut zu den Beschäftigungswirkungen von Mindestlöhnen vorgelegt hat. Im Folgenden werden Vorgehensweise und Ergebnisse der ifo-Rechnungen näher erläutert.
