Nachtrag: "Brain Drain": Gibt es in Deutschland zu wenig Möglichkeiten für Spitzenforscher?

Abstract

Gibt es einen Exodus des deutschen Forschernachwuchses vor allem in die Vereinigten Staaten? Ergänzend zu den Beiträgen im ifo Schnelldienst 4/2008 unterstreichen Lydia Hartwig und Johanna Witte, Bayerisches Staatsinstitut für Hochschulforschung und Hochschulplanung, München, die Notwendigkeit, die Bedingungen für innovative Forschung im deutschen Wissenschaftssystem in der Breite als eine wichtige Voraussetzung für die Entstehung neuer Spitzenforschung zu verbessern. Ihrer Meinung nach sollte es vor allem darum gehen, talentierten jungen Wissenschaftlern attraktive Entwicklungspfade zu bieten, das in diesem Bereich in Deutschland am meisten Verbesserungsbedarf und auch -potential liege. Dabei sei durchaus nicht nur an deutsche Wissenschaftler zu denken, sondern an Forscher aller Nationalitäten, die in Deutschland attraktive Bedingungen vorfinden sollten.
