Staatliche Stabilitäts- und Strukturpolitik: Österreich als Modell für Deutschland?

Abstract

Deutschland ist seit Mitte der neunziger Jahre langsamer gewachsen als der Durchschnitt der europäischen Länder. Von 1995-2004 nahm das deutsche Sozialprodukt um 13%, das BIP Großbritanniens um 22%, das von Frankreich um 20% und das von Österreich um 22% zu. Helmut Frisch, TU Wien und Staatsschuldenausschuss, untersucht einige Faktoren, die diese Wachstumsschwäche verursacht haben könnten, wobei er insbesondere die deutsche und österreichische Entwicklung vergleicht und die Rolle der Wirtschaftspolitik in beiden Ländern hervorhebt. Im Einzelnen befasst er sich mit dem Problem der hohen Arbeitslosigkeit und dem rasanten Anwachsen der Staatsverschuldung. Für beide Bereiche kommt er zu dem Schluss, dass die österreichische Politik durchaus als Modell für Deutschland gesehen werden könnte.
