Welche Entwicklungen zeichnen sich im elektronischen Geschäftsverkehr zwischen Unternehmen ab?

Abstract

An die Internetnutzung und besonders an die Entwicklung des elektronischen Geschäftsverkehrs zwischen Unternehmen - B2B e-Business oder kurz B2B - werden hohe Erwartungen gestellt. Sie sollen die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der Unternehmen durch sinkende Kosten, schnellere Information und erhöhte Flexibilität verbessern. B2B ist nicht nur die Anwendung von Technologien, sondern auch ein Motor der Veränderung von Wirtschaftsprozessen und Industriestrukturen: B2B-Anwendungen besitzen ein enormes Potential zur Veränderung wirtschaftlicher Abläufe in Richtung der "Wissensgesellschaft". Im Rahmen des Programms eEuropa, dem die Regierungen der damals 15 EU-Mitgliedsländer im März 2000 zugestimmt haben, nimmt B2B eine wesentliche Rolle ein. Als erster in einer Folge von Beiträgen beschäftigt sich dieser Artikel mit den Problemen der Schätzung der Verbreitung von elektronischem Geschäftsverkehr zwischen Unternehmen und stellt den Ansatz einer Studie (B2B Metrics) vor, die das ifo Institut zusammen mit vier weiteren internationalen Partnerinstituten im Auftrag der Generaldirektion Informationsgesellschaft der EU-Kommission erstellt hat. Die Ergebnisse dieser Untersuchungen werden in späteren Beiträgen im ifo Schnelldienst veröffentlicht.
