Portugal: Geht der Anschluss verloren?

Abstract

In Portugal hat der Aufholprozess gegenüber dem Durchschnitt der EU-Länder 2001 keine weiteren Fortschritte gemacht, das reale Bruttoinlandsprodukt nahm mit 1,8% nur geringfügig stärker zu als der EU-Mittelwert. Die Arbeitslosenquote verharrte im Jahresdurchschnitt bei 4,1%. Die Teuerungsrate erreichte 4,4%. 2002 wird das reale Bruttoinlandsprodukt voraussichtlich nur um 1% expandieren. Auf dem Arbeitsmarkt verschlechtert sich die Situation. Die Arbeitslosenquote dürfte im Jahresdurchschnitt auf knapp 5% steigen, die Konsumentenpreise um gut 3¼% über dem Niveau des Vorjahres liegen. 2003 wird sich das BIP um knapp 2% erhöhen. Die Arbeitslosenquote wird sich auf rund 5½% ausweiten und die Preise das Niveau von 2002 um knapp 3% übersteigen.
