Großbritannien: Zunehmende Ungleichgewichte

Abstract

In Großbritannien war die Konjunktur im Jahr 2000 kräftig nach oben gerichtet. Getragen wurde diese Entwicklung von der Expansion des Dienstleistungssektors. Das reale Bruttoinlandsprodukt nahm um 3% zu. Auf dem Arbeitsmarkt blieb die Lage weiterhin angespannt, die Arbeitslosenquote ging im Durchschnitt des Jahres auf 5,6% zurück. Die Konsumentenpreise lagen im Jahresdurchschnitt um 0,8% über dem Niveau von 1999. 2001 dürfte sich das reale Bruttoinlandsprodukt nur noch um gut 2% erhöhen. Die Konsumentenpreise dürften im Schnitt des Jahres um ungefähr 1 1/4 % steigen, die Arbeitslosenquote liegt bei etwa 5 1/4 %. Im Jahr 2002 wird sich die Konjunktur voraussichtlich erholen, das BIP um rund 2 1/2 % expandieren und die Arbeitslosenquote auf dem Niveau des Vorjahres verharren.
