Europäische Union - institutionelle Reformen für eine zukunftsfähige Gemeinschaft

Abstract

Während des Gipfels in Nizza am 7. und 8. Dezember will die Europäische Union die Reform ihrer Institutionen beschließen. Nach Ansicht des bayerischen Ministerpräsidenten Dr. Edmund Stoiber sollte das Treffen in »eine(r) klare(n) Aufgabenzuteilung nach den Vorgaben des Subsidiaritätsprinzips« resultieren und »die Europäische Union ... sich künftig auf die wirklich europäischen Kernaufgaben konzentrieren«. Auch Prof. Dr. Werner Weidenfeld, Direktor des Centrums für angewandte Politikforschung (C.A.P) an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München und Mitglied des Vorstandes der Bertelsmann Stiftung, Gütersloh, spricht sich für eine »klare Aufgabenteilung zwischen der Union, den Mitgliedstaaten und ihren Regionen« aus: »Alle drei Ebenen sind aufeinander angewiesen, müssen jeweils funktionsfähig bleiben und die Aufgaben sinnvoll untereinander aufteilen.«
