Abstract

Im Jahr 1999 gelang ein "Soft landing" der Konjunktur. Das reale Bruttoinlandsprodukt (BIP) stieg um gut 1% nach 2,7% im Jahr 1998 und 3,1% 1997. Der Arbeitsmarkt reagierte erst wenig auf die schwächere Konjunktur. Die Beschäftigung nahm weiter leicht zu. Die Arbeitslosenquote sank auf 4 1/2%. Im Jahr 2000 wirken die konjunkturelle Erholung in Europa, die günstigen weltwirtschaftlichen Rahmenbedingungen, aber auch die Wirtschaftspolitik anregend. Für das reale BIP zeichnet sich ein Anstieg um knapp 2 1/4% ab, für die Arbeitslosenquote ein Rückgang auf 4 1/4%. Die Lebenshaltung wird sich um 2 3/4% verteuern. Im Jahr 2001 werden Nachfrage und Produktion wahrscheinlich zwar deutlich, aber nicht mehr beschleunigt zunehmen. Das reale BIP dürfte um fast 2 1/2% expandieren. Die Arbeitslosenquote könnte auf 4% sinken; in zahlreichen Sektoren und Regionen nimmt aber der Arbeitskräftemangel zu. Die Konsumentenpreise dürften sich erneut um etwa 2 3/4% erhöhen.
