Die gesamtwirtschaftliche Bedeutung von Messen und Ausstellungen in Deutschland

Abstract

Wie wichtig es ist, daß Deutschland seine starke Stellung als Messestandort verteidigt oder sogar ausbaut, zeigt eine Untersuchung, die das ifo Institut zusammen mit der Forschungsstelle für den Handel Berlin und dem Deutschen Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung durchgeführt hat. Danach lösten die Ausgaben der Messeaussteller und -besucher 1997 direkte und indirekte Produktionseffekte von gut 41 Mrd. DM aus und bewirkten die Beschäftigung von fast 230.000 Personen. Neben den Multiplikatorwirkungen wurden auch eher qualitative Entwicklungen und Problemfelder betrachtet, etwa welche Bedeutung den Messen und Ausstellungen im zunehmenden nationalen und internationalen Standortwettbewerb zukommt.
