Die Leipziger Messe : steigende Produktions- und Beschäftigungseffekte

Abstract

Die Leipziger Buchmesse stieß 1999 auf ein besonders reges Interesse der Medien. Die Zahl der beteiligten Verlage hat erneut zugenommen. Das kann auch als Beweis dafür angesehen werden, daß Leipzig mit der Eröffnung des modernen Messegeländes im Jahr 1996 neuen Schwung bekommen hat und beginnt, sich in der deutschen Messelandschaft zu etablieren. Trotz mancher Erfolge und steigender Besucherzahlen ist nicht zu übersehen, daß die Leipziger Messe GmbH keine Gewinne abwirft. Auch wenn man die von den Messen ausgehenden positiven gesamtwirtschaftlichen Effekte nicht den betriebswirtschaftlichen Verlusten gegenüberstellen kann, so dürfen sie doch nicht unberücksichtigt bleiben.
