Abstract

Prof. Mark Perlman, Initiator und erster Herausgeber des berühmten amerikanischen "Journal of Economic Literature" hielt im Juni im ifo Institut einen Vortrag über "The uses of authority in economics". Er ging vor allem der Frage nach, was das wissenschaftliche Denken der Ökonomen in der Vergangenheit jeweils bestimmte. Dr. Willi Leibfritz, Leiter des Bereichs Konjunkturanalyse und öffentliche Finanzen des ifo Instituts, war von Perlmans Ausführungen so begeistert, daß er den Vortrag übersetzte. In seinen Schlußfolgerungen gab Perlman zu bedenken, daß zu viele Berufsökonomen glaubten, es gebe einen Königsweg zum Verständnis der ökonomischen Zusammenhänge und damit des Verhaltens der Menschen, und er wünschte sich, daß es so wäre.
