Abkühlung des Wirtschaftsklimas in Japan : Ergebnisse des 55. ifo Konjunkturtest International

Abstract

Nach dem Urteil der rund 450 Experten, die sich im Januar 1997 am 55. "ifo Konjunkturtest international" beteiligt haben, hat sich das Weltwirtschaftsklima im Durchschnitt verbessert. Die US-amerikanische Wirtschaft ist nach wie vor Wachstumsmotor, aber auch in vielen Ländern Westeuropas kam die Wirtschaft 1997 stärker in Schwung. Bessere Aussichten haben auch die meisten Länder in Asien und Lateinamerika. Zu einer deutlichen Abkühlung des Konjunkturklimas kam es dagegen in Japan, wo es gegenwärtig keine Anzeichen für eine Festigung des im Vorjahr einsetzenden Aufschwungs gibt. Während Inflationstendenzen in den USA weitgehens vermieden werden konnten, hat der Preisdruck in Großbritannien zugenommen. In beiden Ländern wird mit höheren Zinsen gerechnet, wodurch der hohe Wechselkurs beider Währungen gestützt wird. Von der Stärke des US Dollar erhoffen sich insbesondere westeuropäische Länder eine Unterstützung ihrer Exportwirtschaft, während in den USA mit einer Zunahme des Handelsbilanzdefizits gerechnet wird.Als drängste wirtschaftliche Probleme bezeichneten die Experten nach wie vor die Arbeitslosigkeit und die Haushaltsdefizite der öffentlichen Hand.
