ifo Patentstatistik : deutsche Unternehmen bleiben hinter ihren Konkurrenten aus den USA und Japan zurück

Abstract

In dem Beitrag wird untersucht, ob die ifo Patentstatistik Hinweise auf die Ursachen der zunehmenden Verschlechterung der technologischen Wettbewerbsposition deutscher Unternehmen bietet. Das Technologieportfolio ist zu sehr von Branchen mit geringer Dynamik geprägt. Auch die deutschen Großunternehmen können, im Hinblick auf die Patentperformance, nicht mit den Konkurrenten aus den USA und Japan mithalten. Strukturveränderungen vollziehen sich in Deutschland langsam, sobald sie die Grenzen tradierter Bereiche betreffen. Insgesamt lassen die Befunde darauf schließen, daß die deutsche Industrie, um ihre technologische Wettbewerbsfähigkeit zu sichern, die Aktivitäten in der technischen Entwicklung stärker bündeln und auf solche Felder richten muß, die im internationalen Maßstab als dynamisch gelten können.
