Südafrika 1992 : Wirtschaft und Politik im Zeichen wachsender Unsicherheit

Abstract

Die Republik Südafrika befindet sich in einer besonders schwierigen Phase ihres Übergangs in eine nicht-rassistische Gesellschaft. Wirtschaftlich dauert die längste Rezession der Nachkriegszeit an. Mitverantwortlich dafür ist die ungeklärte politische Zukunft. Nach einer Einigung auf weniger problematische Verfahrensfragen scheiterte CODESA II (Convention for a Democratic South Africa) an den nach wie vor sehr unterschiedlichen Auffassungen zu den entscheidenden Zukunftsfragen. Hinzu kommt, daß der Machtkampf unter den Schwarzen - hauptsächlich Inkatha versus ANC - an Intensität wieder zugenommen hat. Da sich die Kontrahenten darüber im klaren sind, daß die Zukunftsaufgaben Südafrikas auch über eine gesunde und rasch wachsende Wirtschaft gelöst werden müssen, bleibt die Hoffnung, daß diese Einsicht letztlich wieder zu einem Aufeinanderzugehen führt. Die Probleme in allen Bereichen der Wirtschaft lassen keine andere vernünftige Alternative.
