Abstract

Das Erzgebirge birgt bis heute einen reichen Rohstoffschatz, darunter auch Lithium. Im Februar 2024 wurde bekannt, dass die Lagerstätte in Zinnwald auf 429.000 Tonnen geschätzt wird und damit zu den größten Vorkommen in Europa zählt. Dennoch bedienen bislang nur eine geringe Anzahl an Unternehmen die gesamte Weltnachfrage nach dem wichtigsten Rohstoff für wiederaufladbare Batterien. Europa ist beinahe zu 100% auf Import angewiesen. Kann die Nachfrage nach Hochtechnologiemetallen neuen Schwung in den europäischen Bergbau bringen? Eine Einordnung.
