Die Corona-Pandemie hat kaum negative Auswirkungen auf die Organspenderzahlen in Deutschland

Abstract

Angesichts der andauernden Corona-Pandemie stellt sich die Frage, welche „Kollateralschäden“ mit ihr einhergehen. Wegen der hohen Belastung der Krankenhäuser, insbesondere der Intensivstationen, ist der reguläre Betrieb eingeschränkt und auch die medizinische Versorgung anderer Patient*innen betroffen. In diesem Beitrag zeige ich, dass die Coronakrise bzw. die Zahl der Corona-Patient*innen auf Intensivstationen bisher jedoch keinen großen Einfluss auf die Organspenderrate in Deutschland hatte. In anderen europäischen Ländern ist die Zahl der Organspender*innen bei hoher Belastung des Gesundheitssystems dagegen stark zurückgegangen.
