Die Qualität der Bereitstellung lokaler öffentlicher Güter

Abstract

Wie gut ist die Qualität lokaler öffentlicher Güter? Spielt die Qualität, wie beispielsweise die Sauberkeit öffentlicher Parks, bei lokalen Wahlentscheidungen eine Rolle? Die Frage ist nicht leicht zu beantworten, insbesondere mangels Verfügbarkeit entsprechender Qualitätsindikatoren auf lokaler Ebene. Informationen von Online-Beschwerdeportalen können hier neue Ansätze und Perspektiven liefern. In diesem Projekt werden Einträge des Portals FixMyStreet.com aus Großbritannien ausgewertet, um die Qualität der Bereitstellung lokaler öffentlicher Güter in allen Gemeinden Englands seit 2007 zu quantifizieren. Die Ergebnisse deuten nicht nur auf substantielle Qualitätsunterschiede unter den Gemeinden hin, sondern auch, dass eine bessere Bereitstellung einhergeht mit höheren Chancen auf eine Wiederwahl des Amtsinhabers bei lokalen Wahlen.
