Abstract

Insurance fraud represents a significant problem for the insurance market in Romania, having a negative impact on costs and consumer confidence. This can lead to higher insurance premiums and damage to the reputation of insurance companies. Fighting fraud is essential to maintain market stability and protect the interests of policyholders. As society has evolved and new insurance companies have emerged, there has been a diversification of products and an expansion of funds in the insurance market. These changes have led to the development of fraud in this sector, which often has international dimensions. Fraud can take many forms and can occur throughout the life of an insurance policy.
