Abstract
Glamping, which brings together the comfort of a luxury hotel and natural environments, represents a tourism model enabling the relaunch of post-COVID-19 tourism, thus contributing to the sustainable development of tourism in Oltenia. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to review and analyze the development of glamping tourism, including the synthesis of tourist motivation, demand, and supply, and, at the same time, map glamping locations in the South-West Oltenia Region of Romania in a spatio-temporal manner. The following methods are used in this study: the compilation method, the cartographic method, the instantaneous observation technique, and the analysis and synthesis method. In the current context of the uncertainty regarding possible travel restrictions and social distancing due to the emergence, spread, and increase in the number of cases of human metapneumovirus (hMPV)—a virus that mainly leads to respiratory infections (diseases)—tourism activities specific to the rural environment, such as outdoor nature walks, visits to peasant households in villages, hiking, climbing, fishing, hunting, handicrafts, and horseback riding, provide tourists with not only the opportunity to avoid possible infections but also a favorable environment for rest and relaxation.
