Abstract

Piero Boni, combattente nella Resistenza, socialista convinto, sindacalista pragmatico, uomo integerrimo. Ha lavorato instancabilmente per ricondurre all'unita il sindacato, diviso dopo la scissione del 1950: lo scopo era superare la logica di unita di azione a favore di una logica di unita di intenti. Anche dopo il fallimento di tale tentativo, osteggiato dai maggiori partiti politici, Boni ha continuato a battersi dagli scranni universitari e come presidente della Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini che ha diretto dal 1978 al 1992. Coerente fino in fondo, ha rifiutato la proposta di candidarsi al Senato nelle liste socialiste per le elezioni politiche del 1976, convinto di essere più utile nell'organizzazione sindacale. Modificato il panorama politico che ha portato al primo governo Craxi e avversato dal nuovo segretario del psi, si dimise dalla CGIL, accettando la sconfitta ma continuando a lottare per quelli che riteneva essere gli scopi fondamentali del socialismo e del sindacalismo.
