L'agriculture familiale et ses réappropriations locales par le mouvement paysan colombien

This article aims at analyzing the local appropriation mechanisms of the international concept of family farming based on the claims of the Colombian peasant movement and two farmers? organizations in particular. Behind the conflict around the meaning of the concept, there is a real sociopolitical conflict through which the Colombian peasant movement has attempted to politicize family farming to position its claims at the national level. Beyond an agronomic and technical vision of rural development, Colombian peasant organizations have transformed "family farming". They have framed it as a matter of dignity, right to life, and defense of the territory, in response to a development model which threatens the very existence of the peasantry/campesinado.
