Structure et santé du secteur financier européen

Abstract

The European financial sector has been hit hard by the crisis, with total losses of ? 1000bn. Whilst Spain and Ireland are on track to overcome their real estate crisis, Italy, Greece and Portugal are still coping with the impact of the eurozone crisis on their financial system. From a structural standpoint, the crisis has accelerated domestic consolidation but has not led to the birth of truly pan-European champions as in the US. The next focus should be on the clarification of financial business models as securitization and the implementation of TLAC (total loss-absorbing capacity) create the need for greater transparency.
