Abstract

Based on a survey of 123 international joint ventures operating in Turkey, we analyze the performance of the local partner perceived through the prism of the partnership asymmetry. The originality of our research is twofold. Firstly, we asked the Turkish local partners unlike the existing literature is more focused on the perception of multinational firms. Secondly, the asymmetry is traditionally analysed with the differential size between partners. We add criteria of turnover, growth rate, customer, decision-making and competitive position to define the concept of partnership asymmetry. Our study found no significant link between the asymmetry of the parents and the performance of international joint venture.
