La mortalité selon le revenu à partir de données européennes

We estimate the relationship between income and mortality in France and a series of European countries. Using a weighted regression method, the life expectancy by income class is obtained from the life expectancy by education. The calculation are made for different cohorts and sex and the results show that the mortality differential is bigger for male than female and it increases slightly with age. We observe large disparities among countries with low inequalities in nordic countries and larger inequalities in eastern countries. France displays a rather low mortality differential compared to other European countries.
