Abstract

Some studies have already shown the interest of High Speed Rail in touristic development around specific heritages, for metropoles and big cities at the European or international level. Others stressed the difficulty of this type of enhancement for small and medium-sized cities. But few of them have focused on intermediate cities. Our analysis focuses on cities served by TGV in France, less than 1 h 30 from Paris, and that want to attract a Parisian clientele for weekend and foreign clientele visiting Paris. We analyzed four cities characterized by different tourism assets: Rheims, Metz, Tours and Le Mans. After a literature review we show how the TGV has been a tool for enhancing the touristic value of heritage assets.
